The NTI is encouraging all Barbadians to explore and embrace their national identity, and to contemplate what it truly means to be a Bajan while contributing to the ongoing development of Mission Barbados.

Introducing the NTI Citizenship Special Prize for NIFCA 2023. To win this Prize, participants will be invited to create artistic pieces across the 7 categories:

Visit the NIFCA link https://ncf.bb/registration-forms/ and download the relevant entry form. Make a note on the form that, “This entry is to be entered in the NTI Citizenship Special Prize for NIFCA.”
A cash prize of $2,000 will be awarded in each category for entries recognised by the judging panel.
Additionally, a special prize of $2,000 will be awarded for a Person with Disabilities who fulfils the eligibility criteria and attains the highest ranking across any or all 7 categories.
The theme for these entries will revolve around an individual’s interpretation of what it means to be an active citizen of Barbados.
To ensure that participants have a comprehensive understanding of the concept of citizenship, they must enrol in and complete, at a minimum, the Course Essentials component of the NTI Citizenship Course which can be accessed by clicking the images above.
This eLearning course is designed to be completed at one’s own pace and convenience, and the full course takes approximately 13 hours to finish. The Citizenship Course, like all courses on the NTI Learning Management System, is provided free of charge to all Barbadian citizens.
The course focuses on various aspects of our civic responsibilities and rights as citizens. It equips participants with the tools required to enhance communication, collaboration, and active engagement in community, church, and country. Additionally, it aids individuals in exploring personal goals, assessing their skills, comprehending the functioning of our government, and understanding the roles and responsibilities of our official leaders. Ultimately, the course delves into the very essence of being a Barbadian and what it signifies for Barbados to be a Republic.

The theme for these entries will revolve around an individual’s interpretation of what it means to be an active citizen of Barbados.
Submission concepts may include elements from the Articles of the Barbados Charter, but this is not mandatory. A summarized version of the articles is available below and it is also included in the Course Essentials component of the NTI Citizenship Course.
Article I: Non-Discrimination This article emphasizes the principles of freedom and equality in human dignity and rights, irrespective of factors such as age, race, ethnicity, faith, class, cultural and educational background, ability, sex, gender, or sexual orientation.
Article II: Mutual Respect It promotes courteous and civil relationships among individuals, highlighting the collective duty to care for one another.
Article III: Civic Participation This article underscores the right and duty of citizens to engage in the economic, political, and social life of Barbados, including the right to vote and seek public office.
Article IV: Environmental Responsibility It emphasizes the right to a healthy and balanced environment, along with the duty to participate in its preservation, conservation, enhancement, and regeneration.
Article V: Global Cooperation Barbados’s role in the global community is emphasized, emphasizing the importance of harmonious coexistence with others and collaborative efforts to safeguard the future prosperity and stability of Barbados and the Caribbean.
