AJW Africa’s Skills Development Programme is a groundbreaking initiative in partnership with the National Transformation Initiative (NTI) of Barbados. Our mission is to connect Kenyan learners with a diverse selection of courses in various sectors, including but not limited to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Hospitality, and Healthcare. Our goal is to empower individuals by providing them opportunities to skill, up-skill, and re-skill, ultimately enhancing their employability prospects.

The National Transformation Initiative is part of the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) Programme. NTI was established to address one of the Pillars of the BERT Growth Strategy and part of the RERE programme. Their mission is to equip every Barbadian with the knowledge, skills, and values to be citizens of good character and competence in a digital world. NTI has curated courses for AJW Africa to meet the needs of their interests for the AJW Africa Skills Development Programme. The NTI platform is fully accessible for people with disabilities (PWD) and enables self-directed learning.

Through our partnership with the National Transformation Initiative, AJW Africa offers Learners access to over 400 courses from prestigious global universities and industry educators on the NTI Coursera platform . Learners can select courses that align with their interests and career goals in the fields of ICT, Hospitality, and Healthcare. This enables them to gain valuable skills and certifications that enhance their qualifications and job prospects. The Skills Development Programme is open to individuals residing in Kenya who are eager to enhance their skills and improve their employability in the fields of ICT, Hospitality, and Healthcare. Whether you’re a recent graduate, a working professional, or someone looking to switch careers, our courses are designed to cater to a diverse range of learners, provided that you are 18 years of age and older.

We offer a comprehensive range of over 400 courses, spanning various levels of expertise and areas within ICT, Hospitality, and Healthcare. From coding and data analysis to hospitality management and healthcare administration, there’s a course for everyone. Upon registration on the NTI platform, you can explore the Coursera course catalog to find the courses that best suit your goals.

The courses are to be undertaken and completed through self-directed eLearning virtually. It is necessary for you to have access to a desktop computer or laptop or cellphone and access to stable internet connection. As you undertake your NTI Coursera course, AJW Africa will regularly convene a physical/ virtual meeting between the Learners and AJW Africa Training Facilitators for purposes of reviewing and discussing course content.

Yes, the courses offered through Apprentice Job Work Africa and National Transformation Initiative platform are provided by renowned globally accredited universities and industry experts by Coursera e-Courses. Upon successful completion of a course, learners receive a digital certificate that is recognized and valued by employers worldwide. This certificate may be posted online and included in your CV.

One way to commit to your free Coursera online classes is to make a schedule that includes a reasonable amount of time to focus on studying. Here’s something we like to try: Give up that favourite series or social media scrolling for just 30 minutes a day. Start with that, see how much you can get done in that time, and adjust your time accordingly. You can even set a reminder on your phone daily or weekly so that you don’t miss your window to study.

All course certificates are easily downloadable after completion. You can save them to your computer, share them on your social media pages, or print them to have them handy to showcase the achievement of your new skills.
